ECFMG

The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates regulates and certifies applicants entering the US from overseas medical institutions. You can not start residency or practice Medicine in the US without their certification. They are the main regulatory branch for IMG's here in the US. US State Licensure

Some states are almost impossible to work in immediately out of medical school if you are coming from overseas. These states tend to be the heavily populated ones.
